A. Fill in the Blanks (Modals)

B. Transform the Following Sentences

1. Remove “too”
(a) He is too slow to win the race.
He is so slow that he cannot win the race.

(b) The boy is too fat to run.

(c) She is too tired to play.

(d) He is too lazy to walk.
He is so lazy that he cannot walk.

2. Change into Negative
(a) Man is mortal.
No man is immortal.

(b) I shall always remember you.
I shall never forget you.

(c) I will remember you.

(d) He is happy.
He is not sad.

3. Change into Interrogative
(a) It cannot be true.
Can it be true?

4. Change into Assertive
(a) Who is not afraid of death?
Everyone is afraid of death.

5. Change into Indirect Speech
(a) He said to me, “I am your friend.”
He told me that he was my friend.

(b) She said, “I am going to Ranchi.”
She said that she was going to Ranchi.

(c) He said to me, “Please open the door.”
He requested me to open the door.

(d) She said, “Two and two is four.”
She said that two and two is four.

(e) Sheela said to me, “I am writing a poem.”
Sheela told me that she was writing a poem.

(f) My mother said to me, “What are you doing?”
My mother asked me what I was doing.
